How we know: the Sept. 12, 2025 release issued by Revmo AI with Donatos; PMQ Pizza's Sept. 16, 2025 report, which adds outside context from its own survey.

Donatos hands its phone orders to Revmo's AI, and the two report the results
The Ohio pizza chain put an AI voice agent on the phones at 174 restaurants. Every figure on how it went comes from Donatos and its vendor.
September 2025 — Donatos says AI now answers the phones at nearly all its restaurants, and that the switch went smoothly. Here's what launched, what it cost, and what went wrong.
Cost and outcome (as of Sept. 16, 2025)
- Scope: 174 of 179 restaurants, rolled out in seven waves in June. (Donatos and Revmo)
- Calls: 301,388 handled through August, the companies say. (Donatos and Revmo)
- Conversion: 71% of calls became orders, against a 58% prior benchmark, per the companies. (Donatos and Revmo)
- Accuracy: 99.9%, or about 1 in 1,000 orders needing correction, per the companies. (Donatos and Revmo)
- Cost: not disclosed.
What launched
Donatos picked Revmo in March 2025, kicked off the project on April 1 and rolled the system out in seven planned waves in June, the companies said. The agent is wired into Donatos' own POS and supported by its IT and operations teams. It processes payments over the phone.
Where the hours went
The companies say staff time saved on the phones went to three places. Human call-center agents now focus on "edge cases and escalations" while the AI takes routine orders and questions. Store crews spend more time on expo, accuracy checks and the make-line. Managers get "fewer overtime spikes, steadier schedules" and more coaching time. The release says Donatos now tracks hang-up rates on transfers and a 23-second average ring time when a store has to step in, and has a new Conversation Analytics Center that sorts non-order calls by caller intent.
What the companies report
Besides the call, conversion and accuracy figures, the release claims about 13,500 hours of conversation "absorbed by AI," a 4-point rise in the share of calls handled, and 4,840.8 labor hours "reallocated to store operations in August alone." The companies call that "roughly 30 FTE-months."
They say the conversion gain "equates to ~26,500 additional orders on the period's 203,516 starts." Revmo's own case-study page puts the figure at about 26,800. The release does not define a "start" or say how the 58% benchmark was measured.
What the people involved said
Donatos President Kevin King said in the release: "The AI ordering system rollout to 174 locations has met our expectations on both customer experience and revenue. Revmo's voice AI for restaurants is natural to talk to, processes payments securely and flows straight into our POS."
"I've done several launches, and this was by far the smoothest and most collaborative one yet," said Ben Smith, Donatos' director of operations development. "Stores got immediate relief on the phones."
"Rolling to 174 stores in weeks speaks to the platform's strength," said Revmo CEO Ryan Louis.
Outside context
PMQ Pizza compared the results with its own DELCO Report survey of 660 mystery-shop transactions across 12 brands, conducted before Donatos' rollout. It found automated systems got 88% of orders right when they handled the whole call, against 97% for employees. PMQ wrote that Donatos "clearly saw better results," though the two measures are not defined the same way. The survey also found 92% accuracy when an automated system answered and an employee finished the order. PMQ noted that Donatos opened what it called the country's first fully autonomous, robot-operated pizzeria at the Columbus airport in June 2025.
What went wrong
- No outside check. All results are the companies' own figures, and PMQ's coverage relies on the release.
- Moving numbers. The release and Revmo's case study give different counts of extra orders.
- Short window. Most stores went live in June, so the totals cover about three months of full operation at most.
- What we don't know yet: the price, how often callers asked for a human, and how hang-ups on transfers compare with before.
Our follow-up question for Donatos
How was the 58% benchmark measured, and over what period?
Later developments (added Oct. 2026)
- The companies said Donatos is extending Revmo's coverage to more call types and its Centralized Answering Center (PR Newswire). We found no later published results.
