About

AI, after the demo

Real World Wire is practical AI news for owners and operators: what worked, what it cost and what went wrong.

We write about businesses with real constraints like payroll, margins and busy seasons. We lead with the outcome, use datelines and specifics, and treat announcements as unconfirmed until something ships and gets used.

A note from the founder

For the past two years I've been saving stories about AI that left the lab and went to work: robots in warehouses and fields, voice assistants taking real orders, drones and self-driving fleets running real routes. Not demos, but actual deployments with costs and results, and sometimes failures.

Real World Wire is where I'm sharing that collection, so you can dig into the products and solutions I found interesting. We launch today with a series of reports based on my notes from the past two years. This archive will provide a basis for historical review and discussion. Each report has notes on where things stand today and, as more information is available, the notes will be updated. New field reports follow every Thursday.

Tell me what you think, and send me the real-world uses of AI you've come across. The best tips become stories.
